
Chris Layman Fine Arts
Christopher Nelson Layman was born in Durham, NC. The family moved to Charlotte, where Chris and his many siblings attended Charlotte Catholic High School. He went on to Eastern Kentucky University majoring in Music and the History of Art. Classes at UNCC in Sociology led to work as a social worker for Mecklenburg County.
Later in life, Chris discovered faux finishing, specializing in European finishes and gold-leafing. Concurrent with Just Faux Fun, Chris opened a company “Art on the Road” which was multi-faceted, including event design and custom-made dance floors for country clubs throughout the Carolinas. About thirty years ago, Chris began painting canvases, enjoying the freedom of abstract composition and the focus of Realism in his landscapes. Many of his Abstracts are large.
Chris lives in Charlotte, where he spends time in his studio creating paintings.
